1. Is there a code of conduct (like at CONS) and , if so, where do I find it and who enforces it? 2. If there are medical issues or injuries , what is the ability of the YRUU conference and /or Star Island Corporation to address it?

first of all, medical stuff. there is a doctor/doctor's office on island. if you have alergies or any medical situations, it is your responsiblity to inform the island and the doctor. any medicine can be dispensed there as well. all of this is gona over at the island orientation.

second of all, there are codes of conduct. there are 2 codes. the island's and the con's. these are all gone over at the island and con orientation respectfully. in terms of enforcing them…the island's codes are enforced by pels (workers of the island), con staff, and con adult advisors. con codes are enforced by con staff, con adult advisors, and people who have been to the con before and know better (a lot of us look out for each other even if not on staff). also any pels who have been to our con (which is a lot) will also step in if you are doing something you are not supposed to.

in terms of an actual list…i'm horrible at this, but someone else might step in and make one.

Yup, Paul's correct. You can find the Island's policies in the blue book (http://starisland.org/PDF/2008StarIslandBlueBookV1.pdf) starting on page 40. They also mention a section on medication. Con rules apply on island and we do a very similar opening circle. I can have Johnny post them out for you and we should put them on the website. Thanks for the idea.

Codes of conduct are taken very seriously. I don't know any cases of them being breached within the last few years and when they are it usually effects the whole community. I think there have been maybe 1 or 2 people in the last ten years that were banned from ever returning to the island.

In addition, we always covenant at the beginning and allow the community as a whole to create their own ideals regarding conduct and goals for the community. Those remain posted on the island during our stay for us to follow.

i think the last member of YRUU to get “next boated” (this means that the individual gets on the very next boat reguardless of when and is banned from returning to the island) was about 4 years ago.

Some Codes of conduct we have at star every year are the following:

Conference Rules

No drugs or alcohol

No violent, abusive behavior

No weapon

No pets

No techno toys (ninendos, two ways, etc.) **Cell phone etiquette is key

Island Rules

18+ Smoking only in smoking areas

No indoor flames

Dispose of all your trash responsibly

…and more.

Like llora said, these are the basics in addition to the covenant, a basic guideline for how we treat each other, which we create together as a conference - which covers things that arent in the code of conduct.

We have lots of people who enforce rules - pels, conferees, conference staff, adult advisors.
