o Visit conferences and youth groups to explain conferences

OUREACH DISCUSSION

• Types of Fundraisers they would like to do with youth groups…
• Coffeehouses, car washes, conferences, ice cream socials, bowling
• Best ways for outreach
• Internet- facebook, myspace, friendster, etc.
• Website especially for youth events with an event calendar, forum, downloads, leadership resources, contact info of youth leaders in congregations, as well as DREs and youth advisors
• Email list for youth about upcoming events
• Direct flyer mailings to home addresses
• Going to churches on Sunday mornings, speaking at announcements, coffeehour, possibly leading sermons
• Creating a press-kit – handouts, explaining youth events
• Putting the presskit on church bulletin boards, or creating a table just for youth ministry events
• Local PSAs on community radio and tv – but making sure that youth who aren’t familiar with UUism come to at least 2 youth group meetings and understand how conferences work, just to make sure that our community remains safe
• Having small youth events of local surrounding youth groups for pizza nights or other events
• Creating campus ministries at your college
• Creating an afterschool club at your high school
• Have small group workshops on leadership development for struggling youth groups
• Having conferences, Leadership Development Cons, Spirituality Development Cons, other theme specific cons that build up the leadership of youth
• Creating intergenerational events
• Spreading the word – word of mouth or phone chain
o Why aren’t there events for youth bridging into young adults?
o Ages 18-29
o People feel like they cant necessarily relate with young adults as well as youth, but cannot relate with the younger bracket of youth.
o Can there be events for this age range?
